Women Cell

The women cell in the institution is set up recently to create awareness about gender equality, with a focus on women empowerment.  The cell will also look into the matter and related issues of gender discrimination that often proves to be a bane in our social system.  The cell works, in tandem, with committee against sexual harassment.  The cell regularly arranges for counseling of girls students so that issues of concern, both social and individual, may be effectively addressed on a case to case basis.  Separate complaint box, exclusively meant for girls, is placed by the cell so that the aggrieved/affected party may reach out for help at her own convenience.  To complement the system further, Helpline numbers are widely circulated among the girls students by the members of the cell.

With a view to initiating such programme based actions, the women cell has already organized a workshop on “21st Century Women: Search for Root, Identity and Power in the Midst of Crisis” on 08.10.2015 to generate legal awareness among girl students.  Sri Amitdyuti Kumar, working President of APDR and Dr. Sikha Aditya, member of West Bengal Commission for Women spoke on that occasion.
